But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.
– 2 Peter 3:8 NLT

I watched the ravenous lava eat so much foliage. Its appetite was unusually huge for its size. Surprisingly, it ate it’s egg shell too but after having a fill, it gathered a large mass of leaves around itself and then turned to hang upside down from the trunk of the tree before spinning a silky cocoon around itself.
I kept coming back for about three weeks and from the outside, there seemed to be no activity going on. Until one day I finally saw this beautiful butterfly emerging from the silky cocoon. What seemed like an endless and worthless three weeks to me was the great period the lava needed to transform into a butterfly.
The lava understood the mystery surrounding its transformation so it did the right things while going through the transformation process. Here are a few lessons from the lava.
1. The lava fed first on its egg shell. Don’t allow negativity and obstacles to keep you a prisoner. Instead, feed on them, let them inspire you to prove your worth.
2. Voraciously feed on the word of God because your life depends on it. It is what you need for encouragement and inspiration as you go through the tough times of change and great transformation.
3. Besides, it also reveals to you the mystery surrounding your creation, your purpose and your transformation.
4. The lava prepared enormously for the transformation process so it was ready and willing to wait till the end. Are you doing the right things, are you prepared, and are you ready to wait?
5. The lava came out only after the transformation was complete and it proudly showed itself to the world as a beautiful butterfly. Learn to stay in your cocoon until you have been transformed and ready for the world.

Pray with me…
Dear Lord, I thank You for today and for the opportunity to try again. Teach me to know that the best way to wait and depend on You is by reading Your word and faithfully doing my part.
Amen!
